This paper presents a brief introduction to the issue of risky behavior from the point of view of such an aspect as the gender characteristics of its manifestation. Within the framework of this topic, the key concept to which research interest is directed is risk preference. This study, on the one hand, reveals the main theoretical provisions on the problem, on the other hand, it allows us to consider the data of various empirical studies.

    Introduction
Have you ever encountered risky behavior from other people in your daily life? Perhaps, at least once, you have witnessed an unpleasant event for others, which is committed on the basis of some motives in front of your eyes by another person. If this has not happened to you, you have probably seen information about similar cases in the news feeds, and it made an impression on you. For example, something like this: “Police: Man Stole $500 Worth Of Shrimp And Beer From Long Island Supermarket” (CBS New York, 2021).
Looking at such headlines, you will clearly wonder what prompted the man to such behavior, and why he chose to commit an offense. At this point, you will also have a thought about why it was the man who did this and not the woman. Further reflection will lead to the idea of who is more prone to such behavior, men or women. That is, the issue of gender differences will become key.
Our research is carried out precisely in order to understand who has greater risk preferences. First, it is worth noting a report from the Robert Koch Institute (Robert Koch Institute, 2014), which claims that men engage in more unhealthy and risky behavior and, accordingly, die earlier.
